Paula Rieger is a well-recognized oncology nurse who served as the CEO of the ONS, from November 2007 through August of 2014. Prior to that, she served as the Director of International Affairs for the American Society of Clinical Oncology, where she started the Department of International Affairs. She also worked as a nurse at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for twenty three years. Dr. Rieger has maintained continuous support of the nursing profession through publications, contributions as a research collaborator, and over 200 presentations at scientific and professional meetings on cancer-related topics.
