Dr. Holly Chitwood DNP, APRN, FNP-C, AGACNP- BC is a board-certified nurse practitioner at the University of Kentucky, Markey Cancer Center and an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing. She began her career in oncology nursing in 2005 in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology with Kentucky Children's Hospital. She earned a bachelor's of science in social work from the University of the Cumberlands in 2001, which has influenced and provided a unique perspective to her nursing practice regarding cost, social determinants of health associated with care, health equity, and advocacy for oncology patients. She has worked as an APRN in Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant and currently works in Medical Oncology with a focus in management of patients diagnosed with gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and sarcoma cancers. She is passionate in influencing the field of oncology, supporting, and empowering nurses with resources needed to provide the very best care for our oncology patients. Dr. Chitwood is published in oncology supportive care, financial toxicity, lung cancer patient navigation, implicit bias, and other topics pertaining to oncology nursing practice.
