Cindi was a founding Board member of ONS in 1975 and first Vice President. She has worked in academic, rural and community settings for 50 years. She has established a free standing community based cancer support center, led local and national navigation initiatives and has published several articles on the patient experience with breast cancer diagnosis disclosure and preferences. She has provided immersive cancer patient retreats in Montana and California. In 2021 she established her LLC, CAN R&R which provides consulting and retreats for nurse resilience and well being. Because of her lifelong commitment to patient, nursing and caregiver support she has received the Oncology Nursing Society's Distinguished service award, Cure magazine's Extraordinary Healer Award, the ONS Lifetime Achievement award and the Biden's Initiative's FIERCE award. Her commitment to the Oncology Nursing Society has spanned over 50 years.
